Classic Swing Dictionary
(Beginner/Intermediate)
You've heard people talking about the sailor step, Frankie points, Savoy kicks, switches, jump charleston, the Mini dip, flash kicks, tandem pushouts, and pecking. Or maybe you haven't. Either way, you'll get hep in a hurry with this encyclopedic collection of all those moves everybody else knows. These are the words and the dance elements that have made their way into the standard Lindy lexicon, so you know it's all good stuff! NOTE: We encourage you to take this class with either the 7:30 Intro or the 9:30 Move Yourself classes.
Prerequisite: a few weeks of Monday classes, or other swing dance experience.
TUESDAYS MAY-JULY 9:30-10:30
Move Yourself: More Goodies
(Intermediate/Advanced)
Lindy Hop is a flexible, improvisational dance form that has incorporated a huge amount of authentic jazz movement into its figures. This class will encourage you to develop and refine your own body movement while you learn specific vocabulary elements for Lindy that are derived from jazz. You do not need to have taken the first Move Yourself series; this one will cover a distinct set of moves, at the same level and in the same format as the first series. NOTE: We encourage you to take this class with the Classic Swing Dictionary class at 8:30.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Lindy Hop or some experience with 8-count lindy hop.
NO partners required.
