Charm City Swing is Baltimore's "Best Reason to Go Out On A Monday Night"
Baltimore Magazine's Best of Baltimore!
"I like classic swing music, but love that you can modify your dance to other music too. The most fun is wowing everyone at the company christmas party by swing dancing to some 70's disco." Andi
My wife and I have found ourselves dancing at nightclubs, weddings, corporate parties, dinner restaurants with jazz bands, to name a few. Whenever we dance to swing music, people know what to expect, and we're always surprised how many people get out there and swing each other around after we've broken the ice. However, when we dance to NON-traditional swing music, we're amazed by how many people come up to us afterwards and say "Was that swing dance? I never knew you could swing to THAT! Where can I learn?"
The greatest thing is that swing dancing is, for the most part, NOT choreographed. Everything happens while the music is playing, and you can dance to music you've never heard before. See for yourself. Here are some video examples of swing dancing to the different types of music that I mentioned above. NONE of these are choreographed. These are experienced dancers, of course, but with some practice anyone can do this. If you want to see more videos, check out our video library.
Spontaneous (non-choreographed) dancing:
